Dear Evelyn Hansen (Original: Dear Evan Hansen) tells the story of a high school senior with social anxiety disorder who so yearns to make a connection with her peers that she fabricates a relationship with a deceased student to become closer to the girl's family.
In spring 2023, nine eighth and ninth graders dedicated four months to rehearsing an adapted production of "Dear Evelyn Hansen." Alongside memorizing numerous lines and mastering various choreographies, students delved into profound themes including social exclusion, suicide, and the detrimental outcomes of weaving webs of deception.
The students' exploration of these themes not only nurtured their social-emotional skills but also bolstered their sense of belonging and camaraderie within the team.
